This procedure is for all unexcused tardies for all class periods. This includes unexcused check ins to class.
All absentee notes are required to be uploaded/turned in within 5 days of the student returning to school after the absence. No exceptions. If a student misses 10 or more days of school, they are required to have a doctor's note for future absences. A letter will be mailed once the student misses 10 days of school. If a student has 5 or more unexcused absences, they are considered truant and warning notices will be mailed to the parents. Students with more than 5 unexcused absences will not be allowed to make-up ANY missed assignments for future unexcused absences.
Students are allowed 5 ALL DAY unexcused absences per year with NO penalties to their assignments. After the 5th all day unexcused absence, a student cannot make up ANY of his/her work they missed if the absence is unexused. If the absence is excused, they are allowed to make up all work.
Students will check into school through the attendance office. A ll students may sign themselves in school.

There are NO checkouts after 1:30.
11 th and 12 th grade students may check themselves out with a parent note that is provided to the attendance office before 7:00am. The attendance office MUST speak with the parent before 7:00am in order for the student to be able to checkout. If we are not able to verify the note before 7:00am, the student cannot check themselves out. NO faxes, phone calls or emails will be accepted.
If any student checks out who is on the Doctor’s Note List, a doctor’s note is required for the absence to be excused.
If your student needs a permit form, they may sign up Monday - Thursday on the clipboard outside the attendance office. The form will be available for pick up Friday after 12 p.m. noon.

Arlington Community Schools is committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for each student. There is a clear relationship between neat, appropriate attire and a productive learning environment. Apparel or appearance that tends to draw attention to an individual rather than to a learning environment should be avoided.
**Leggings or yoga pants may be worn with a shirt or top that extend to the mid-thigh.
School officials may also prohibit the wearing of clothing bearing any image which would substantially or materially interfere with school activities or the learning environment.
The principal may allow exceptions for school-wide programs or special classroom activities. The school administration will administer appropriate consequences for policy violations.
